The best plastic worm and soft plastic flipping anglers in the world will tell you that a straight shank hook results in a much better hook-up ratio than off-set shank hooks.  The problem is your plastic will constantly slip down on these kind of hooks as the keeper barbs on production straight shank hooks are too small.  This results in a lot of aggravation and lost casts.

The Amistad Tackle Hook Barb solves that problem.  Place a hook barb on your hook, heat it with a lighter and then shape your barb with your thumb and forefinger while the barb is still warm.  The barb will shrink tight and a special adhesive cements it to the hook.  Once the barb cools it will be solid as a rock and grip tighter than an Osprey's talon.  If you want a smaller barb simply trim it with scissors to the desired size.  We recommend the Hook Barb with the Gambler KO Flipping hook and other straight shank hooks.
