Drop shotting is one of the best techniques out there for catching finicky fish. This technique has saved the day for us many times. We always have a few rods rigged up for this technique.

In our experience these cylindrical dropshot weights are the best choice for drop shotting. They come through cover much better than other designs. The specially designed line catcher at the top makes changing weights a snap. Just insert your line through the catcher and pull up. The line will jam in the catcher. If you snag the weight a hard pull will often leave the weight on the bottom, but save the rest of your rig. Just snap another weight on and you’re ready to go again. Tip: Try drop shotting with 30 pound braid, 15 pound flourocarbon leader, 3/8 or 1/2 oz. weight and a 3/0-5/0 offset worm hook. Texas rig your bait and throw this around heavy cover. You can pitch this rig into tight spots. It also skips pretty well with an underhand cast. Drop shotting isn’t just a light line technique!
